Abstract

This paper developed a detailed approximation to the evolution of regional disparities in Spain, between 1980 and 1995. Interested on the analysis of the complex causes which explains the divergence among regions, the author makes a mild but powerful critic to some of the prevalent suppositions of the conventional neoclassic model. From an applicated work, the text suggest an interesting inquiring regarding to that thesis which sustains that in long terms must be produced a convergence between the different regional economies. In fact, what the author a discovers is the opposite, that in Spain the most delayed regions are not progressing fastly than the more developed ones, existing identifiable factors which impede or delay that progress.
