Old and new reflections regarding Mexico ValleyÍ€™s Metropolis are questioned, in order to discover new trends in urban development of the city. We assume the way in which we name the metropolis generates confusion. At the same time, there is an important transformation in the activities leading the economic development of the city. Services are taking the place that industrialization took for more than seventy years, currently adopting the leadership in the vision of the future of the postindustrial city. At the same time, natural and historical patrimonies are nowadays the main resources in order to revalue economic activities. Special mention has to be done to urban periphery, the place where growth and resources allow planning the sustainable city of the future.
