The generation of observation units of reduced dimensions and regular geometry is becoming increasingly important in spatial analysis. Following this line of work, the Institute of Statistics and Cartography of Andalusia has been, for the last decade, developed information integrated in the statistical grid formed by regular cells of 250 x 250 meters according to Eurostat guidelines. This article shows the results of the use of spatial distribution data of population and housing. Autocorrelation and spatial correlation analyses have been conducted to find out the relationship between the Smoothed Standardized Mortality Ratio and certain socioeconomic indicators, as well as certainhousing characteristics. The results, along with the advantages of working at a territorial disaggregation level of reduced dimensions and with a homogeneous observation unit, are shownin order to obtain a more exhaustive knowledge of the territory.
