Abstract

Innovation has became, during the last decade, in a widely used concept in all kind of disciplines, consolidating the idea that a sustained innovation effort is a main factor in order to improve the competitiveness of the firms and territorial development. This paper presents the main multi-disciplinary contributions to the firm geography, exhibing next some case studies in order to characterize innovating territories, as well as the factors wich contribute to their improvement. Finally, the relation between territories, local actors and firms is examined.
